He sees the woman she's blossomed into. Gorgeous and proud and sexy as fuck. And he kicks himself for letting her get away.
He sees the other men in the room sit up and take notice of her as if she was someone new, but he's known her all along. Small but not fragile, innocent but not naive.
He sees her do things he never thought she'd no, say things he never thought he'd hear and it shocks him even though she was always full of surprises.
He sees her smile at that man whose place used to be his. He sees her half dressed and wants to cover her up because it should be for his eyes only. And he knows she does these things now to prove him wrong.
